Message from the Scientific Chairman
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Scientific Committee, I have the great pleasure to invite you
to attend the 8th APCCVIR which will take place in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia from the 9th to 12th June 2008.
The scientific program was prepared to include a wide range of vascular and
nonvascular interventional topics, both current practice and cutting edge
developments. These topics will be covered in the plenary sessions, symposium
lectures and hand-on workshops. Components of the scientific program include
pre-congress interventional workshop, live case transmissions, workshops and
special symposia, learning center and company symposia, foundation courses, free
paper presentations and electronic poster presentations, meet-the–expert
sessions and trade exhibits.
The pre-congress interventional workshops on spinal pain management, image
guided tumour ablation, lower limb salvage and intracranial revascularization,
which run concurrently, will include live case demonstrations . The Foundation
Courses are particularly aimed at radiologists in training and aspiring
interventional radiologists. These lectures are intended to provide proper
foundation in interventional radiology. They focus on important practical issues
of techniques in vascular stenting, image guided biopsies and drainage
procedures. The ‘meet-the-expert’ sessions allow an informal opportunity for
participants to share their insight , expertise and perspective on various
aspects of interventional radiology including discussion of their cases with
leading interventionalists. In addition, there will also be several company
sponsored lectures covering related topics of interest. The Learning Centre
provides an opportunity for participants to engage in training sessions,
simulations and focused discussion on products by related companies. Inclusion
of sessions for the radiologic technicians and nurses is designed to address the
needs of these groups, who are recognised as indispensable members of the
interventional team.

Kuala Lumpur and share the comprehensive education in all new and ongoing
aspects of interventional radiology.
